visit several coves and hidden wetland
areas that are the home for several
different types of wildlife.

Fall Hike along the King
Philips & Goat Hill Trails, Uxbridge,
Mass.
We will meet at Blackstone Valley
Outfitters and car pool over to River
Bend Farms. Hiking though great white
pine and hardwoods to Lookout Rock for a
spectacular view of the river valley.
Returning to the west side of the river
we will take a hike to Goat Hill Lock (One
of the last intact locks along the canal)
and return over Goat Hill.
Time: 8:00 am to 11:00 am

Dutch Oven Cooking Demo
Stop by the store and enjoy a sample of
old time outdoors cooking. We will go
over care of a Dutch oven, how to set
temperatures with charcoal and cook a
great meal.

- Fall Orienteering Course
Stop by the store and test your compass
proficiency. An orienteering course will
be set for your enjoyment. Check in at
the store, obtain your course and compete
for the best time. Time slots of 1- hours
will be set up so pre-registration is
required.

Island Park Woonsocket, RI to Store,
Mendon Road, Cumberland, RI.
Meeting at BVO we will car pool to River
Island Park in Woonsocket, RI and spend a
day paddling back to our store. During
the trip the group will explore an
underground culvert, several coves and
remains of the old canal. There is a
section of Class I white water and 4
portages around dams during our trip.
Bring a lunch for a stop on Kelly Island.
Time: 9:00am to 3:00 pm

– Backpacking 101
Once a month we will be running a
backpacking course that will cover the
fine art of trekking. Our instructor from
Boot Lugs has over 25 years of experience
in the backcountry. The course will
conclude with a backpack trek in the
northeast.

- Guided Kayak Trip from
Depot St., Grafton, Mass to Riverdale St.,
Northbridge, Mass.
A paddle through history as we kayak
through several historic mill villages
with flat waters, quick-water and Class I
white water. Checking out several
backwaters where great blue heron, wood
ducks muskrat and turtles reside. We will
be meeting at the store and car pooling
to site.
