Guided Kayak Trips:

Blackstone Valley Outfitters currently runs 3 types of guided kayak tours along the Blackstone River. The tours are geared for the recreational kayaker with small areas of easy white water. Our guide & rental boats are Heritage Featherlites that are 38lb’s and 9.5’ long. They hold up to 300lb.s in weight. The price of the tour includes at kayak rental, a PFD a paddle and guide. When you sign up for a trip with Blackstone Valley Outfitters you will receive a list of personal gear you should bring with you. On the day of departure you will receive an orientation on kayak paddling and water safety. Depending on the group size you will have from 1 to 2 guides. Your guide will carry on his or her kayak a group first aid kit, throw bag and bilge pump for you safety. All paddlers are required to wear RFD’s for your own safety. The following information describes our 3 kayak tours.

Three Hour Tour:

We run a three-hour tour on most weekdays and weekends from the end of April to the end of November each year. The paddling trip may very in location along the river depending on water level and the group. Depending on the trip location, you could have none to three portages were you would have to help carry our boat and gear. During your paddle you will receive paddling instruction, a narration of historic information along with information on local wildlife and vegetation.

Cost: Adults $30.00 Ages 10-16 $20.00 Ages 6-9 $10.00 in tandem kayak with adult.

Day Tour:

On Saturday’s we will be running a day trip that starts at River Place Park in Woonsocket, RI and travel down stream returning to the store. During your voyage there will be four portages were you will have to help carry boats and gear. At Kelly Island in Lincoln, RI we will stop for a Dutch oven or barbecue meal cooked by your guides and a tour of the Kelly House Museum. After your meal we will return to the Blackstone River and paddle back to BVO. During your paddle you will receive paddling instruction, a narration of historic information along with information on local wildlife and vegetation.

Cost: Adults $60.00 Ages 10-16 $40.00

Overnight Trip in Uxbridge, Mass.:

For our overnight trip we will be launching from Plummer’s Landing on Church Street in Uxbridge, Mass and paddle down the Blackstone River to Rice City Pond to our campsite. During the trip we will take a side trip up a small portion of the canal to a preserved canal-era artifact; Goat Hill Lock built in 1827. While your evening meal is being cooked the group will take a short hike to Lockout Rock and King Philip’s Rock for great views of the valley you paddled through. During the night, campfire tales will be told. The second day of paddling will include one portage, at Hartford Ave., a Class I white water at Mendon Street crossing and a winding river through wooded wetlands to our takeout at Route122.
